AGU President Appoints Dr Salman Al Zayani as CEO of the University Medical Centre at the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City

His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), has recently issued a resolution appointing Dr Salman Hamad Al Zayani, Assistant Professor of Public Health at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS), to serve as the CEO of the University Medical Centre at the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City, affiliated with the university.

Dr Al Zayani expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by His Excellency the President. He highlighted the university’s commitment to developing the medical sector in the GCC region by fostering an environment conducive to innovation, growth, and excellence in healthcare in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC countries.

With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare sector in Bahrain and the United States of America, Dr Al Zayani’s expertise spans clinical, academic, administrative, and research roles in public health, health policies, population studies, and health leadership. He holds a PhD in General Education from the University of Connecticut, an M.Sc. degree in Health Policy and Population Studies and an MD degree from the CMMS in AGU.

Dr Al Zayani has completed executive education programmes in leadership strategies and negotiation at Harvard University in the United States. He also holds graduate degrees in health promotion, health education, and university teaching from the University of Connecticut. In 2018, he received the Venus International Medical Award for Outstanding Clinician in Community Medicine, presented by the international Venus Foundation. Dr Al Zayani has published several scientific research papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented working papers at local, regional, and international conferences.
