Under the patronage of His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), the third conference on internal diseases will kick start on the May 9, 2024. The conference aims to shed light on new horizons in methods of diagnosis and treatment of internal diseases.
On the occasion, Dr Amgad Elbaz, Internal Medicine Professor at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS) at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), and Conference Head, stated that the third edition of the conference will cover important topics in branches of internal diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney, liver, and digestive system diseases. Additionally, endocrine diseases, blood diseases, cancerous tumours, rheumatic diseases, respiratory diseases, infectious diseases, and neurological diseases will be discussed.
Dr Elbaz emphasised that the successful previous editions of the conference witnessed prominent presence and interaction by participating doctors and specialists. He further said that the conference aims to provide effective results through advanced research papers in internal diseases, showcasing the commitment of AGU and its CMMS to advancing the medical sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC countries.
Moreover, Dr Elbaz clarified that the conference is part of the university’s efforts to support doctors in various medical specialties, especially internal medicine, in keeping pace with scientific and practical developments related to internal diseases. He said that more than 40 scientific papers and research are expected to be presented during the conference, with over 450 participants including doctors, specialists, researchers, students, nursing staff, and health workers from Bahrain and various countries around the world.
Elaborating further, Dr Elbaz said the conference will feature 11 specialised panel discussions over three days, equivalent to 24 CMEs, while it is anticipated to result in important recommendations related to prevalent diseases in the GCC countries.
“The event will provide a valuable opportunity for specialists in internal medicine to exchange knowledge and scientific expertise, discussing the latest developments and treatments in internal diseases. Speakers from the US, UK, Sweden, Germany, Egypt, Morocco, Sudan, and GCC countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, and Oman will participate in the conference. Additionally, three workshops on EKG technology for diagnosing diseases, the role of nutrition in internal diseases, and improving doctors’ skills in using x-rays for diagnosis will be held alongside the conference,” Dr Elbaz added.
