BRCS Champions Humanitarian Principles with Groundbreaking Workshop on International Law

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) is organizing a workshop on international humanitarian law from May 7th to 8th, under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Mohammed Murad, Vice President of BRCS, in collaboration with The ICRC Regional Delegation for the Gulf Cooperation Countries. The workshop will be attended by individuals, volunteers, government, and private entities.

The first day of the workshop will cover various crucial topics such as the essence of international humanitarian law, the role of international organizations in upholding it, and the contemporary challenges in humanitarian endeavors. The agenda for the second day includes discussions on the activities of the protection department of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the implementation of international humanitarian law at the national level, safeguarding journalists in armed conflicts, and mechanisms for enforcing international humanitarian law.

Mr. Mubarak Al-Hadi, Secretary-General of BRCS, emphasized that the workshop aligns with the society’s mission to promote awareness of international humanitarian law, contributing to alleviating the suffering of victims of armed conflicts, and highlighted BRCS’s commitment to being an integral part of the international humanitarian, charitable, and relief efforts by organizing awareness programs periodically.

Mr. Al-Hadi underscored the importance of the ongoing partnership with the ICRC Regional Delegation for the Gulf Cooperation Countries and stressed the necessity for volunteers and humanitarian workers to be well-versed in the principles and regulations of international humanitarian law to carry out their duties effectively, especially in today’s world marked by crises and conflicts that directly impact humanitarian conditions.
