AGU and GUtech Discuss Cooperation Opportunities in the Fields of Scientific Research, Technology Development

His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), recently met with the, Dr Hussain bin Sulaiman Al Salmi, Deputy Rector for Administration and Finances of the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech), in the Omani capital, Muscat, with aim of discussing ways of joint cooperation, strengthening research relations between the two universities, and discussing opportunities for establishing Gulf partnership relations for future cooperation.

During the meeting, Dr Al Fuhaid stressed that AGU is proud of its close cooperation with Gulf universities and scientific research institutions in the GCC countries. He said that the university harnesses all its capabilities and expertise to graduate highly qualified human cadres to serve the goals of sustainable development in the GCC countries, so that its role continues to be strategic and pivotal as an educational system that unites the people of the Gulf under one umbrella.

Moreover, Dr Al Fuhaid and his accompanying delegation, consisting of Prof. Waleed Zubari, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies(CGS), and Dr Salman Al Zayani, CEO of the University Medical Centre at the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City, reviewed the most important and latest academic programmes of an innovative and creative nature that the university offers at the level of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme, as well as postgraduate programmes at the Master’s and Doctoral levels including the Master’s and Doctorate in Innovation and Technology Management, the Master of Business Administration, the Master of Science in Next Generation Computing, the Doctor of Philosophy of Molecular Medicine, the Diploma and Master’s in Regenerative Medicine, and the Personal, professional diploma programmes such as the Professional Diploma Programme for Waste Management, the Professional Diploma for Teacher Preparation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), the Academic Diploma in Clinical Research and other academic programmes offering new and innovative specialisations.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on ways to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between the two universities, and opportunities for cooperation were discussed in the fields of scientific research and technological development, enhancing mutual understanding and exchanging experiences through students and faculty.

On his part, Dr Al Salmi reviewed the university’s programmes and research centres that ensure its position in the field of higher education and the future plans of the university that will enable it to become a leading Omani university in the region.

At the conclusion of the visit, Dr Al Fuhaid expressed his deep appreciation to GUtech for its warm reception and hospitality, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two universities for the benefit of developing education and scientific research in the two countries. The delegation also toured the university campus and expressed admiration for the advanced infrastructure and modern.
