Weekly Cabinet Meeting

The Deputy Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet highlighted the importance of the meeting held between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Majesty Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, during His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Cabinet commended the outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to Bahrain, which aims to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two Kingdoms for the mutual benefit of their people.

The Cabinet followed up on the measures taken to address the damage caused by weather changes in the Kingdom and directed the concerned authorities to document and manage the damages.

The Cabinet commended the efforts the Ministry of Interior through the General Directorate of Civil Defence and the General Directorate of Traffic, as well as the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Ministry of Works for their prompt response to the weather changes and rainfall.

The Cabinet strongly condemned and denounced the attack that targeted a concert hall near the capital of the Russian Federation, Moscow, resulting in the death and injury of innocent civilians.

The Cabinet conveyed Bahrain’s heartful condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, the government of Russia, and its people, and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

The Cabinet discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:

1.A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft law amending some provisions of the Correction and Rehabilitation Centre Law.

2.A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft decree ratifying the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, as amended by the 2016 Kigali Amendments.

3.A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on an MoU for legal cooperation between the Minister of Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice in the United Arab Emirates.

4.A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision amending some provisions of the decision regulating private notary activity.

5.A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Oil and Environment on several decisions that support the Kingdom’s efforts in protecting fish and marine resources.

6.A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to three proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives.

The Cabinet then reviewed a memorandum by the Minister of Education on the latest developments on the UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education in 2023.

Furthermore, the Cabinet reviewed Bahrain’s participation in the first meeting of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development’s Digital Innovation Board.
