Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, signed a contract with Maitham Al A’ali, General Manager of Haji Hassan Group, for the main sewage transmission pipeline along Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway.
The minister emphasised the role of public-private partnerships in infrastructure development and service improvement, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to adopting modern technologies to expand service coverage.
Al Hawaj said the project has two phases. The first phase extends from Saar Junction to Jasra Junction, with the installation of 3.29 kilometers of 1,400-mm-diameter sewage pipes and 600 meters of 1,600-mm-diameter pipelines. The second phase extends from Saar Junction to the Tubli Wastewater Treatment Plant, including the installation of 2.7 kilometers of 1,600-mm-diameter pipes and an additional 2.04 kilometers of 1,800-mm-diameter pipelines.
The project aligns with the ministry’s vision to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of the sewage system amid Bahrain’s urban development. It includes the implementation of an advanced sewage network using horizontal directional drilling and trenching techniques to meet citizens’ needs and uphold the highest infrastructure standards.
