The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) recently participated in the 30th student visit to higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The visit was hosted by the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training in Kuwait, with a delegation from the university led by Mr Ahmed Mahmood Al Saei, Head of the Student Activities Unit and the Student Council. Two students from the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS), Mr Marwan Ibrahim Obaid and Mr Faisal Abdullah Al Abdullah, also joined the delegation. The visit involved 16 Gulf universities, as well as approximately 50 social supervisors and students.
This visit is part of the student activities supervised by the Higher Education Sector of the General Secretariat of the GCC countries. It is organised annually by hosting universities, with the aim of introducing the host university, its departments and its achievements. It also provides an opportunity for student delegations to learn about the landmarks of the host country or region, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and love between the people of the GCC countries. The programme included various field visits, such as visits to the headquarters of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, the Higher Institute of Communications and Navigation, the Shaikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre and Souk Al Mubarakiya traditional market.
On this occasion, Mr Al Saei underlined the importance of the university’s participation in such visits to enhance its reputation and position. He also highlighted the benefits for students in terms of skill development and cognitive abilities through interactions with students from other GCC countries.
At the conclusion of the visit, Dr Hassan Al Fajjam, Director General of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, honoured the participating Gulf delegation in the presence of Professor Mohammed Al Tuwaijri, President of the universities of the GCC countries.
