The Deputy Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet extended its congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, following the success of the 2024 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Cabinet noted the significance of this year’s race as it coincided with the 20th anniversary of Bahrain hosting the race at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and commended the efforts of the Bahraini workforce in the Ministry of Interior, BIC, and relevant government authorities in the organisation and success of the global sporting event. In this regard, the Cabinet reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance on the positive impact of hosting Formula 1 races across various economic sectors within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Cabinet extended its best wishes to His Majesty the King, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the citizens of Bahrain, and the Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
The Cabinet also commended the Kingdom’s comprehensive women’s advancement programmes and policies on the occasion of International Women’s Day, led by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), the Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.
The Cabinet then followed up on the efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to intensify inspection campaigns to monitor markets, ensure price stability, and ensure the abundance of consumer goods ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Cabinet discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law approving the Statute of the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding an MoU between the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs and the Bahrain Airport Company.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on an MoU between the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, the Department of Economy and Tourism of Abu Dhabi, the Department of Culture and Tourism in Dubai, and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Education and Training Quality Authority regarding the approval of the Authority’s reports.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to four proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives and a proposed law submitted by the Shura Council.
The Cabinet then reviewed the following two memorandums:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Social Services on the latest developments across government hospitals and primary health care centres.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Legal Affairs on the outcomes of implementing the Government of Bahrain’s annual legislative plan for the year 2023.
The Cabinet then took note of the following through ministerial reports:
1. Outcomes of the Kingdom’s participation in the 41st session of the Arab Interior Ministers’ Council.
2. Outcomes of the Kingdom’s participation in the 159th session of the Ministerial Council of the GCC and the joint ministerial meetings between the GCC along with the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kingdom of Morocco.
3. Outcomes of the Kingdom’s participation in the High-level Segment of 55th Session of United Nations Human Rights Council.
4. Outcomes of the Kingdom’s participation in the Conference of Agricultural Ministers of the World’s Date Producing and Processing Countries and in the ceremony honouring the recipients of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation.
5. Outcomes of the Kingdom’s participation in the Human Capability Initiative.
6. Outcomes of the Kingdom’s participation in the 13th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference
7. Outcomes of the Kingdom’s participation in the 47th session of Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers.
