The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has successfully completed a series of preparations, services and initiatives to welcome students enrolling in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, including those accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme, as well as students from the College of Education and Administrative and Technical Sciences. These efforts aim to ensure a smooth and seamless start to the academic year 2024-2025 without hindering the educational process across all academic programmes at the university.
The preparations for the new academic year include the addition and shading of extra parking spaces, totalling 250 spots, in addition to 100 more being constructed on a new land, and another 120 spots set to be available in one building, along with 150 spots in the vicinity of the Salmaniya Medical Complex. Furthermore, the university is working on constructing a multi-story parking facility that will accommodate over 500 vehicles. This development comes in response to the increasing number of students, aiming to provide them with comfort and stability during their academic journeys while ensuring a suitable and healthy environment for learning.
Meanwhile, the university administration is focused on renovating and enhancing the student accommodation facilities to improve the comfort of male and female students from the GCC countries. This initiative aims to provide a healthy environment for academic success in line with the university’s strategic academic, social and health objectives. Renovations will include renovating rooms, bathrooms, furniture and kitchens in various accommodation buildings, as well as enhancing electrical systems, air conditioning, sewage systems, and waterproofing of roofs, alongside the replacement of electrical appliances and lighting. All work will adhere to fire safety regulations and environmentally-friendly building standards.
The development encompasses 492 university rooms, as well as an additional 144 rooms designated for graduate students in the College of Education and Administrative and Technical Sciences. The project includes the replacement and maintenance of the internal sewage pipe network in the housing campus, with renovations scheduled to be conducted in phases to ensure that students are not affected by ongoing work during their stay. The university is also in the process of constructing two gyms —one for males and another for females—along with new laundry facilities, and plans to fence the university accommodation area after completing the shading of the parking lot.
In a related effort, the university administration is working on expanding the medical simulation centre, renewing existing classrooms and creating new classrooms to accommodate students accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme, alongside expanding the library and study spaces.
