Tamkeen reinforces inspection efforts to uphold wage support compliance

The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) confirmed its ongoing regulatory efforts through inspection campaigns targeting institutions benefiting from wage support programmes, aimed at ensuring compliance and detecting any violations. Since the launch of the updated programme package, more than 4,300 inspections have been conducted for beneficiaries of employment and wage support programmes.

The updated regulatory plan includes a new mechanism with the Ministry of Labour to address cases of unlawful dismissal and maintain communication with beneficiaries of wage and employment support during and after the support period. To date, more than 32,400 beneficiaries have been contacted, with findings showing that cases of unlawful dismissal comprise no more than 0.1% of those contacted. Additionally, 18 violations of individual programmes were recorded.

Violations are managed according to their nature: administrative breaches, like non-compliance with support conditions, are addressed through Tamkeen’s regulatory framework, which may involve fund recovery, temporary suspension, or both. Suspected criminal violations, such as illegal employment or wage manipulation, are referred to authorities, with Tamkeen retaining the right to impose administrative sanctions upon decision issuance.

Tamkeen commended public cooperation in reporting violations, highlighting a shared commitment to safeguarding public funds. It urged adherence to support conditions, open communication for clarity, cooperation with inspectors, and the provision of accurate information to ensure efficient regulatory processes and proper allocation of support.

Tamkeen renews its call to all, whether beneficiaries or non-beneficiaries of support programmes, to cooperate and report any violations through the dedicated channels, which include the web page at www.tamkeen.bh/whistleblowing-form/, hotline at 17383383, and email at [email protected].
