‘Smile’ Initiative Elevates First Aid Skills Among Team Members

Smile initiative, a Bahrain Future Society for Youth program that provides psycho-social support to children with cancer and their parents in Bahrain, recently organized a comprehensive workshop on first aid, featuring Mr. Jamal Salem Al-Aziz, an esteemed international trainer and emergency ambulance technician.

The primary objective of this workshop was to empower the initiative’s team with effective strategies for handling emergencies, enhancing their capabilities, and boosting their readiness to respond swiftly in critical situations. By equipping them with the necessary skills, the initiative aims to prevent injury deterioration and ensure timely intervention in cases of exposure.

This workshop aligns seamlessly with the initiative’s overarching vision, which focuses on elevating the competence and awareness of its team members. It underscores the critical importance of first aid as an integral component of healthcare. As the “Smile” initiative continues its dedication to providing exceptional programs, it remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the expertise of its members in matters of public safety and preparedness. This steadfast commitment extends to addressing potential risks and disasters, ensuring that the team is well-prepared to manage any emergency that may arise within the sphere of the children under their care.

The workshop delved into a comprehensive range of training modules, encompassing fundamental aspects of first aid. These modules covered essential topics, including the basics of administering first aid, the principles and techniques for evaluating the scene and assessing injuries. Additionally, the workshop provided comprehensive guidance on managing various critical situations, such as different forms of depression, heart attacks, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The training also encompassed crucial strategies for handling injuries before specialized paramedics arrive, addressing critical scenarios such as suffocation, burns, bleeding, and fractures. Notably, participants received specialized instruction on employing defibrillators (AEDs) to restore heartbeat rhythm during acute ventricular fibrillation and other cardiac emergencies.

In light of this significant initiative, Mr. Sabah Abdulrahman Al-Zayani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Future Society for Youth, emphasized the workshop’s primary goal: equipping initiative members with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the realm of first aid and emergency response. The objective is to empower them to provide immediate assistance and primary care to injured individuals both within the initiative’s sphere and beyond. This readiness to take appropriate measures and deliver immediate aid holds paramount importance.

Mr. Al-Zayani further highlighted that the organization of this workshop stands as a pivotal step within the association’s broader endeavors. These efforts include the dissemination of health awareness, bolstering public safety, and equipping its team members with indispensable capabilities to address health crises. He extended gratitude to Mr. Jamal Al-Aziz for his invaluable contribution and dedication to efficiently training participants through a well-rounded blend of practical and theoretical exercises.

Al-Zayani reiterated the Society’s unwavering commitment to perpetuate such initiatives, ensuring continuous opportunities for initiative members and the wider community to acquire essential skills. These competencies, he emphasized, play a pivotal role in mitigating harm and upholding public safety—an endeavor the Society remains dedicated to fostering and expanding.
