A group of students from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Arabian Gulf University (AGU) launched a new initiative aimed at preparing prospective medical students to pass the in-person interviews held by the college before announcement of the general academic admission 2024/2025. The Silah Volunteer Club, in cooperation with the Saudi Students Club and the Independent Kuwaiti Students Gathering in Bahrain hosted the university graduate Dr. Khalid Alyami to answer questions by students and their parents through a live broadcast via the X platform.
Medical student Rawan Al-Anzi stated, “Preparing for the in-person interview that precedes the admission announcement often causes anxiety among applicants. Therefore, I launched this voluntary initiative with my classmates Mazen Al-Zahrani, Ziyad Al-Zahrani and Sarah Al-Omrani to clarify the nature of the interview, the questions it contains, and the main focus points.
The meeting, which was moderated by Dr. Khalid Alyami, a graduate of AGU and a participating member of the evaluation committee, was attended by over 70 applicants and a number of parents. The students who launched the initiative provided content that introduced attendants to the nature of interviewing process. Previous student experiences were shared and some advice and guidance were provided with the aim of helping applicants pass the admission interviews with ease and competence, avoiding confusion and stress.
It is noteworthy that a few weeks ago, the same volunteer group launched a comprehensive online guide covering everything related to studying at the College of Medicine for new students from GCC countries. Including vital information and details, it familiarises them with the nature of study through the preparatory year, first year, the pre-clinical academic years, and the clinical study years, in addition to practical training. Additionally, it answers inquiries related to the study system at AGU.
