RMS introduces first photon-counting CT scanner in the Middle East

The Royal Medical Services (RMS) at the Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre has introduced the NAEOTOM Alpha PCCT, the latest in advanced CT imaging technology and the first photon-counting CT scanner in the Middle East.

This state-of-the-art device places Bahrain Defence Force hospitals at the forefront of cutting-edge medical care, both regionally and internationally.

Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Commander of the RMS, highlighted that the introduction of the NAEOTOM Alpha PCCT is part of the centre’s ongoing commitment to providing world-class care for cardiac patients in Bahrain, ensuring the highest standards in diagnostics and treatment.

During his visit to the radiology department, Brigadier Dr. Shaikh Fahad observed the device in use, noting its exceptional accuracy in heart and vascular imaging.

He emphasised that the NAEOTOM Alpha PCCT delivers precise results with minimal radiation, enabling non-invasive heart disease diagnoses without catheterisation, thus reducing the need for invasive procedures and allowing for timely and effective medical decisions.
