Restructuring of Arabian Gulf University BoardIncluding Gulf Experts from Outside the University for the First Time

The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) Board held its second meeting after the University President, His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, issued a decision to restructure it, including for the first time some healthcare, research, and academic leaders from outside the university.

Among the personnel who joined the Board are Dr. Ali Saleh Al Omair, Scientific Advisor of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Dr. Ghazi Abdulrahman Alotaibi, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari, CE of the National Health Regulatory Authority, Bahrain.

Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid stated that this new step of including members from outside AGU in the Board stems from the keenness of administration to enhance governance and benefit from distinguished expertise in GCC countries.

This will contribute to the success of the university’s goals, which include serving the Gulf community and contributing to its growth and prosperity through rare and unique scientific disciplines, research, as well as scientific consultations that address strategic issues in the Gulf.

In addition to the experts who have joined from outside the university, the Board consists of the President, Vice Presidents, Deans and Directors of institutes, centers, and programmes affiliated with the university, and a representative member of each college, institute, center, or programme.

According to Article 17 of the university’s regulations, the University Board is the supervisory body responsible for its scientific, educational, and research affairs. It is also responsible for overseeing financial and administrative matters to ensure the fulfillment of its mission and achievement of its goals.

The first University Board was established by a decision of the Board of Trustees at its seventh meeting in April 1986.
