ParkPoint, a premier company specializing in the management and operation of parking lots, has announced the launch of the Smart Parking Systems. Specifically designed to meet the needs of smart cities, this system aims to enhance the parking experience in the Kingdom of Bahrain, simplifying and streamlining the user journey.
This system utilizes ground-installed sensors in parking spaces that detect the presence of vehicles. These sensors are connected to a mobile application that notifies the user whether the parking space is vacant or occupied, saving them time and effort in searching for available spots. Additionally, traffic management authorities can utilize this system to detect vehicles in parking spaces and verify parking payments. It enables them to directly identify violators and take necessary actions, thereby increasing the efficiency and speed of traffic law enforcement.
The company stated that this launch was made possible through a collaboration with INTERCOMP, a leading Italian company specializing in parking technologies and solutions. The company emphasized that this step aligns with its continuous efforts to develop the transportation and parking sector by offering innovative solutions and digitizing the parking experience entirely.
The provided advanced technologies offer valuable data for parking monitoring, enabling drivers to access real-time information. This allows data-driven decision-making and optimal management of parking facilities.
Mr. Omar Al Khan, Founder and Managing Partner of ParkPoint, commented, “We are delighted to announce the launch of this new and innovative system in collaboration with INTERCOMP. We take pride in being at the forefront of organizations introducing such technological innovations, which result from the integration of transformative technology and leveraging latent capabilities. These advancements contribute to improving the quality of life for residents and enhancing the driving experience for all. We are confident that the adoption of this modern system with its tremendous capabilities in various areas of the Kingdom will serve as a significant milestone in our journey towards achieving progress and prosperity in the field of parking management.”
“Establishing an integrated and efficient framework for parking management supports the comprehensive transportation system and, in turn, aids in setting priorities and supporting the transformative shift towards integrated, intelligent, and sustainable transportation. Undoubtedly, providing this system that offers real-time data on available parking spaces allows for reducing travel time for drivers on the roads. It will contribute to achieving a key performance indicator for the transportation sector, which is reducing traffic congestion and minimizing delays caused by the search for parking spaces.” Mr. Al Khan added.
For his part, Mr. Giordano Ambrosi, Marketing Manager of INTERCOMP, stated: “Smart Parking Systems is a business unit established by INTERCOMP in 2002, with the mission of managing all activities and processes related to on-street parking. The objective was to develop a solution enabling municipalities to efficiently oversee parking operations at both executive and strategic levels. We are pleased to collaborate with ParkPoint in delivering this parking system in Bahrain.”
“Cities are evolving, populations are increasing, and new technologies are advancing. By 2050, the global population is projected to grow from the current 7.8 billion to 10 billion. This continuous growth necessitates sustainable development, requiring cities to be prepared to address 2 billion new mobility needs. We believe that parking management must be guided by technological solutions that assist municipalities in better understanding the utilization of mobility services and parking. This enables them to provide immediate and tailored responses to specific needs. Additionally, users must have easy access to information, be aware of parking availability in specific areas, and navigate the city efficiently.” Mr. Ambrosi added.
