NBB Supports MIT – Harvard Architecture Workshop Led by Bahraini Academics

The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) was recently one of the supporters to “OFFCUT/CUTOFF”, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard architecture workshop led by MIT lecturer, Latifa Alkhayat, and Doctoral Candidate at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Maryam Aljomairi. The programme was hosted by Awal Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, where students were immersed in an industrial production environment.

With a focus on material circularity in manufacturing and construction, the workshop-based class included lectures from local and regional architects, workshop visits and an exhibition of artefacts that was hosted at the end of the programme at the Pearling Path in Muharraq.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Mohammed Alqassimi, Marketing and Partnerships Manager at the National Bank of Bahrain said: “We are proud to be sponsoring this community initiative which connects local and internationally-renowned institutes and enables Bahraini students to gain newfound knowledge on cutting-edge techniques in architecture. NBB is dedicated to supporting local talents and embedding valuable skills that aim to develop the next generation of industry professionals.”

NBB is committed to promoting a culture of learning as the Bank continues to support prominent educational initiatives in the Kingdom that provide youth with access to valuable knowledge across various industries.
