His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today witnessed McLaren winning the Formula 1 World Constructors’ Championship for the first time in 26 years, following their victory at the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2024, held at Yas Marina Circuit in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
His Royal Highness congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on this occasion, highlighting McLaren’s distinguished achievement.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s achievements in international competitions are a testament of His Majesty the King’s support for the Kingdom’s sports sector, serving as a source of inspiration and motivation.
His Royal Highness extended his congratulations to the President of the UAE, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Court of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the successful hosting of the race.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad wished the UAE and the organisers at the Yas Marina Circuit for continued success in hosting future Formula 1 races.
His Royal Highness also congratulated the Minister of Finance and National Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and its Board of Directors and executive members on McLaren’s victory.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended Mumtalakat’s efforts and commitment to developing investments in Bahrain, which has supported economic diversification and the Kingdom’s comprehensive development goals.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad noted that GCC countries have emerged as leaders in hosting international races, thanks to world-class infrastructure and capabilities that have distinguished them as destinations for international championships and races.
His Royal Highness highlighted the continued successes of the UAE in hosting the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, reflecting on the broader achievements of the region in organising Formula 1 races.
Prior to the start of the race, His Royal Highness was given a tour of the Yas Marina Circuit, during which HRH was briefed on the final preparations being made for the race.
At the circuit, His Royal Highness met a number of several senior officials.
