Mara’ee 2024 showcases Bahrain’s commitment to sustainable food security, agricultural development

The Bahrain Animal Production Show (Mara’ee), held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, reflects the Kingdom’s strong commitment to food security and its sustainability.

This focus was emphasised in HM the King’s address during the opening of the third session of the sixth legislative term last October, where he commended the government’s efforts to enhance food security and natural resources while directing the adoption of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to achieve optimal results across developmental sectors.

The Mara’ee exhibition demonstrates the success of national strategies and initiatives of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. These efforts align with enhancing investment opportunities in the agricultural and animal sectors, promoting sustainable growth.

The seventh edition of Mara’ee is set to take place from November 27 to December 1, building on the success of the previous six editions. The exhibition plays an important role in advancing strategic national projects that boost the agricultural and animal sectors’ contributions to food security and the national economy.

Since its launch in 2010 under the patronage of HM the King, Mara’ee has established itself as a premier platform for investment in agricultural and animal production. It has become a key event on Bahrain’s calendar for hosting major regional and international exhibitions.

Held at the Bahrain International Endurance Village, the exhibition has consistently attracted a record number of visitors, both locally and internationally. It serves as a multifaceted platform combining economic, developmental, scientific, and tourism opportunities while strengthening Bahrain’s global presence in the exhibition sector.

Organised by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture in collaboration with private sector partners, Mara’ee highlights Bahrain’s heritage and identity.

The event showcases rare Arabian horse breeds and unique livestock owned by Bahraini farmers, ensuring that Bahrain’s rich cultural legacy is passed on to future generations.

The ministry continuously advances the exhibition’s objectives to attract investment in Bahrain’s food industries, increase the agricultural and animal sectors’ contributions to the economy, and create quality opportunities for citizens.

The exhibition also highlights the latest technological advancements in agricultural and animal production, showcases the experiences of Bahraini farmers, and fosters connections between farmers, buyers, exhibitors, and investors to enhance trade and ensure the sustainability of food security sources.

This year’s Mara’ee exhibition focuses on national initiatives to achieve food security, advance agricultural and animal production, and reinforce Bahrain’s leadership in organising events that boost the economy and tourism. It also promotes investment in agricultural and animal production to achieve self-sufficiency in select food products.

Under the comprehensive development process of HM King Hamad, Bahrain continues to accelerate its economic, social, and environmental growth scientifically and practically. This approach is seen as the foundation for stability, sustainable development, and prosperity, ensuring food security and self-sufficiency in resources while addressing global challenges.

The Kingdom is committed to diversifying food sources, innovating agricultural techniques, and developing sustainable livestock and fisheries. Additionally, Bahrain actively fosters partnerships with friendly nations and international organisations to support these sectors, enhance environmental preservation, and improve citizens’ quality of life, contributing to a brighter, sustainable future for generations to come.
