The curtain has fallen on the sixth edition of the Bahrain Animal Production Show (Mara’ee 2023), which was held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Commenting, Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, affirmed that HM the King’s patronage of Mara’ee 2023 has contributed to its outstanding success, praising the royal directives to develop the Show in order to support the kingdom’s efforts to achieve higher food security rates.
He pointed out that holding the Bahrain Animal Production Show is consistent with the policies of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, aimed at enhancing the kingdom’s leading position and addressing the issue of food security.
Minister Al Mubarak paid tribute to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Honorary President of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation, for putting in place all facilities to hold Mara’ee 2023 at the Bahrain International Endurance Village, contributing to its success.
Al Mubarak indicated that Mara’ee 2023 reflects the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture to devote its plans to serving the kingdom’s food security, in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 20230, noting that the animal and agricultural production is among the basic pillars of food security.
To this end, the kingdom has been keen on exchanging experiences, supporting farmers, applying the best practices, using cutting-edge technologies and building capacities, he said.
He added that Mara’ee has strengthened the kingdom’s leading standing on the map of speciliased exhibitions, noting that it has provided a platform to conclude major deals in the fields of animal and agricultural production.
He affirmed that thousands of students had visited Mara’ee 2023, as it provided a line-up of entertaining activities and competitions that appealed to all visitors.
Al Mubarak asserted that the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry will continue supporting the participation of the private sector in the investment in the animal and agriculture sector, being indispensable partners in implementing the national food security strategy, which will contribute to increasing food production.
He stated that the Mara’ee 6 represented a qualitative leap compared to the previous edition, as it attracted rare and purebred species in the world.
In this regard, he said that the Show featured the exhibition of Internationally registered, localised animal breeds of animals and poultry for the first time, adding that it also provided an opportunity to highlight the kingdom’s successful experiments in the field of fish farming. He also commended the participation of the National Guard in the Show.
Al Mubarak affirmed that Mara’ee 6 has achieved its forecast goals, noting that the Ministry is keen to take advantage of its positive outcomes in a way that contributes to increasing food production, and implementing the projects emanating from the food security strategy.
He pointed out that Mara’ee 2023 also provided a platform to increase scientific knowledge through holding training workshops designated for veterinarians and agricultural engineers specialising in animal production, citing the participation of lecturers from the King Faisal University and the Saudi Veterinary Medical Association in the Show.
