Nibras Mohammed Talib, the CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the head of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, emphasised the importance of mental health support for frontliners dealing with victims of human trafficking.
He added that working with victims of human trafficking requires significant effort and psychological support due to the diversity and complexity of the cases.
This came during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, represented by Fahad Al Binali, Director of Awareness and Partnerships, and Sulwan Hospital for Psychiatry, represented by Anisa Al Howaihi, Director of Public Relations and Marketing.
This initiative aims to enhance the protection system in combating human trafficking by implementing specialised programs to develop the skills of frontline workers, coinciding with mental health awareness activities organised every October.
The MoU aims to improve mental health support for human trafficking workers and victims through joint training programmes on managing psychological pressures.It also focuses on expertise exchange and holding awareness events highlighting the importance of mental health support.
