Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan inaugurated today “Career Expo 2023”, which was held by Bahrain Polytechnic at its headquarters in Isa Town. The event was attended by Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, the institute’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Labour Ministry Undersecretary Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Polytechnic Chief Executive Dr. Ciarán Ó Catháin and invitees.
The exhibition aims to boost vocational guidance for the students of the institute by informing them about the jobs available in the labour market and highlighting the market’s needs for various specialties, mainly in the technological and knowledge-based sector.
The Minister of Labour affirmed the government’s awareness of the key contribution of the public and private higher educational and training establishments as a social partner in synchronizing the educational and training output with the labour market needs. He pointed out that those initiatives will be supported by launching a national employment skills platform to serve the students, employers and all concerned people with the future of the labour market.
The Minister of Labour commended cooperation between the Labour Ministry, Bahrain Polytechnic and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), which resulted in the signing of many memoranda of understanding to train and groom the new graduates with specialties difficult to integrate the labour market. He lauded, in this context, the strategy of Bahrain Polytechnic to upgrade the educational and training system, mainly in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector and artificial intelligence.
Bahrain Polytechnic Chief Executive, Dr. Ciarán Ó Catháin, underscored the institute’s constant keenness to provide a platform for its graduates to communicate directly with the employers and pave the way for them to take up future jobs.
The Minister of Labour toured the participating pavilions alongside the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, the Board of Trustees Chairman of Bahrain Polytechnic, and the attendees.
