Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, attended the General Assembly meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Labour Centre, on the sidelines of the fifth conference of labour ministers of the member states of the OIC, held on November 21-23.
The minister commended the inauguration of the OIC Labour Centre, which will facilitate member states’ efforts toward sustainable economic growth and human development, including advancing cooperation between labour markets in Islamic countries.
The centre is responsible for developing studies and regional programmes for countries, taking into consideration their labour market conditions, boosting the economy and promoting sustainable development.
Bahrain is among Islamic countries that have ratified the statute of the Labour Centre of the OIC.
The centre focuses on addressing labour issues, exchanging expertise, improving working conditions, enhancing social partnership, stimulating suitable employment conditions, creating job opportunities, and developing social protection systems.
