June 13 deadline for compliance with digital payment regulations

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has called on all commercial establishments in the Kingdom of Bahrain to take the necessary steps to comply with Ministerial Decision (43) of 2024 regarding payments for commercial transactions before the deadline of June 13.

Businesses must maintain a commercial bank account with a licensed bank in Bahrain. All transactions must be conducted through this account. Additionally, they must provide at least one electronic payment method, such as electronic payment systems, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, or online payment gateways.

Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, emphasised that Bahrain continues to advance financially and commercially by enhancing mechanisms and improving services. He urged all commercial establishments to modernise their operations by adopting secure and efficient digital payment systems.

He noted that the Ministerial Decision (43) of 2024 is not only a legal obligation but a significant step towards improving financial efficiency and transparency. He stressed the importance of businesses acting promptly to ensure a smooth and secure transition to a more advanced and sustainable financial environment.
