Experts have underlined that the challenges arising from global interdependence and the digital world’s globalization represent a genuine menace to information security. These challenges fuel the surge in cyber threats and exacerbate issues stemming from the growing cross-border exchange, storage, and processing of information and data. Consequently, sensitive data and critical information become exposed to a range of cyber threats, including hacking, cyberattacks, and data breaches.
These insights were unveiled at a seminar hosted by NGN International, a leading Bahraini IT Systems Integrations and Managed Cyber Security Company, titled “Globalization of Information Security.” held on the sidelines of NGN’s participation in the “GITEX” exhibition. The panelists featured distinguished experts including Mr. Ali Beshara, General Manager of NGN, Mr. Hasan Muhi, Operational Risk and Information Security Management/CISO & BCP Officer at Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain, and Mr. Owais Khan, Security Solutions Architect Lead Tahaluf El Emarat.
During the seminar, experts delved into the impact of globalization on information security and emphasized the urgent need to develop advanced technological systems to match the rapid progress in the tech landscape. They stressed the paramount importance for companies to safeguard their data, networks, and users by employing robust security measures, including software updates through secure processes like encryption. Additionally, the deployment of digital units within institutions was highlighted as a crucial step to fortify information systems against potential cyberattacks.
The panelists also asserted that the latest integrated services and cybersecurity best practices are crucial for safeguarding institutions and companies amid digital transformations. These practices included implementing appropriate access policies to minimize unauthorized information access, instituting early detection protocols for breaches, and ensuring swift responses to incidents. Moreover, educating employees on cybersecurity practices was highlighted as an essential element.
Mr. Yaqoob Al Awadhi, CEO of NGN, underscored that this symposium is a strategic initiative aimed at showcasing Bahrain’s cybersecurity expertise on both a regional and global scale. Moreover, it emphasizes the commitment to draw upon and adapt the most exceptional international practices in the cybersecurity domain to enhance the local landscape in Bahrain.
Mr. Ali Beshara, NGN’s General Manager, that the landscape of cyber threats is in a constant state of evolution. Attackers leverage advanced technologies to breach systems, compromise data, and disrupt operations. Hence, it is imperative for organizations to commit to investing in up-to-date information security systems, embracing the most effective practices available, and making ongoing cyber security modernization an integral component of their enterprise security strategy to effectively combat the ever-changing threat landscape.
