HM King Hamad attends 44th session of GCC Supreme Council

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today participated, along with the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in the closing session of the 44th Summit of the GCC Supreme Council.

Chaired by His Highness Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, the session was also attended by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, and the Guest of Honour of the 44th GCC Summit.

HH Shaikh Tamim delivered a speech in which he expressed pleasure at the fraternal spirit that had prevailed throughout the 44th GCC Summit, praising the GCC leaders’ understanding, objective discussions and wisdom in taking the right decisions. He expressed hope that today’s summit will contribute to achieving more progress for GCC countries and their brotherly peoples, as well as to serving Arab and Islamic causes.  

The Amir of Qatar expressed pride in GCC leaders, wishing them continued success in serving their countries and peoples.

The Turkish President also addressed the 44th Summit of the GCC Supreme Council, stressing that GCC-Turkish relations are progressing steadily.

He indicated that the volume of trade exchange between the GCC and Türkiye had reached $23 billion, adding that over last two decades the volume of trade exchange between the two sides has increased 13-fold.

Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, President Erdogan stressed the need to reach a ceasefire, warning of the possibility of it turning into a regional war. He also affirmed that the ultimate goal is to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General, also delivered a statement during the closing session of the 44th Summit of the GCC Supreme Council.
