His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, chaired the last meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) for this year.
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, SCYS First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), attended the meeting.
HH Shaikh Nasser praised the SYCS for achieving its goals through various projects, including the “Masari” project, which created new opportunities for young people, refined their skills, and prepared them for the labour market, while also enhancing Bahrain’s international image.
He commended the Ministry of Labour for its diligent efforts to create job opportunities, offering specialised programmes, and preparing job seekers for the Bahraini labour market.
His Highness praised the joint efforts of the Ministry of Labour and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) to support Bahraini workers’ value-added training and employment in the private sector, including wage and incentive programmes, and implementation of joint training and human resources development programmes to boost recruitment processes and worker competitiveness.
The Ministry of Labour reviewed the “Training Opportunities” programme, launched in September 2019 by HH Shaikh Nasser and supervised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs at that time.
The programme aims to provide on-the-job vocational training in private sector institutions for six to 12 months.
The aim is to develop Bahraini youth’s capabilities, skills, experiences, efficiency, and confidence through practical and applied skills, helping them build their future.
The SCYS’s Secretariat-General reviewed a database of academically distinguished students, including graduates from public and private universities.
The council directed a working group to focus on these Bahraini cadres, making this project a priority.
The project aims to benefit Bahrain by recognising bright young Bahraini competencies in many fields in the local market.
The SCYS approved the “Skills of Tomorrow Conference” which be held in Bahrain in November 2024, in collaboration with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), to prepare GCC youth for the labour market.
The Skills of Tomorrow programme, aimed at developing personal and professional skills among GCC youth, will be held from November 18 to December 1, focusing on technology utilisation, preparing them for the labour market, and exchanging experiences and success stories from different countries.
The programme involves five to seven participants from each country, along with the head of the delegation.
The conference targets young people aged 18-25, studying in universities or colleges, or recent graduates, and are actively involved in youth work.
