Within the framework of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s patronage of the equestrian sport in the kingdom, the 160-km race and the 120-km race for private stables were held, as part of HM the King’s Cup Endurance Ride Festival, taking place at the Bahrain International Endurance Village.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) Honorary President, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, attended.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdula Al Khalifa, BREEF President, and scores of officials were also present.
HH Shaikh Nasser expressed thanks and appreciation to HM King Hamad for supporting endurance races, noting that HM the King’s Endurance Festival is the icon of local championships and the gateway for jockeys to win major titles.
His Highness paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for HRH’s constant support for sports, particularly endurance.
HH Shaikh Nasser congratulated the winners of various races of HM the King’s Endurance Festival, commending BREEF’s outstanding organisation of the festival.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad crowned the winners of the races of HM the King’s Cup Endurance Ride Festival.
Jockey HH Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, from Team Victorious, clinched the first place of the 160-km race, followed by Mohammed Abdulsamad, from the Al-Ruud Team, and Michaela Supekova, from Team Victorious, who were second and third in the same race, respectively.
Jockeys Nasser Hamad Al Qahtani, from RM Team, Hamad Ismail Al Balushi, from Ajyal Stable, and Maha Ali Mohammed, from the Muharraq Equestrian Academy, won the first, second and third places of the 120-km private stables race.
Commenting, HH Shaikh Isa bin Faisal, the winner of the 160-km race, commended HH Shaikh Nasser’s constant support and directives throughout the race, expressing pride in winning the prestigious cup carrying HM the King’s name.
He paid tribute to his father, HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid, for his constant support for close follow-up.
Nasser Al Qahtani, the winner of the private states race expressed delight at winning the title, noting that jockeys always dream of winning the cup carrying HM the King’s name.
He also expressed support to HH Shaikh Nasser for his constant support for all jockeys.
