The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3×3 World Tour (Manama Masters 2023) kicked off at the Bahrain Bay courts today.
The two-day event is held under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President.
The opening ceremony of Manama Masters 2023 was attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Cabinet Affairs Ministry’s Undersecretary and BOC Vice-President, Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, GSA Chief Executive Officer, Nebras Talib, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Dr. K. Govindara, FIBA Asia President, and Waleed Al Alawi, Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) President, in addition to heads of sports federations and senior guests.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad welcomed the participating delegations, wishing them a happy stay in the kingdom.
His Highness expressed delight over the kingdom’s hosting of the global sporting event, organised by FIBA in Bahrain for the first time, in cooperation with GSA, BOC and BBA.
HH Shaikh Khalid indicated that FIBA’s holding the 3×3 World Tour in Bahrain reflects the kingdom’s distinguished reputation as an ideal host for mega sporting events.
His Highness extended thanks to the organising committee for the tremendous efforts it had exerted to prepare well for the global event and put in place all its success requirements.
