Government Hospitals and Smile Join Forces to Launch a Vibrant Childhood Cancer Awareness Platform at Salmaniya

“Government Hospitals” and the “Smile” initiative, a Bahrain Future Society for Youth initiative that provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents in the Kingdom of Bahrain, have collaborated to establish an awareness platform at Salmaniya Medical Complex.

The objective is to raise awareness about childhood cancer, emphasizing the significance of early diagnosis and providing support to the young patients and their families.

This initiative coincided with International Childhood Cancer Day and was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Mariam Al Jalahma, CEO of Government Hospitals. It signifies a crucial step in consistently combating childhood cancer, educating the community on prevention, and increasing early detection rates, thereby improving the chances of recovery.

During the platform event, awareness leaflets were distributed, and visitors to the medical complex were engaged in discussions, addressing any inquiries related to childhood cancer. The focus was on mobilizing community support for children with cancer and their families.

Her Excellency Dr. Mariam Al Jalahma underscored the importance of community education through such awareness and educational platforms, and emphasized the necessity of collaboration with various segments of civil society to intensify efforts and share experiences.

Mr. Sabah Al-Zayani, Chairman of the Bahrain Future Society for Youth, expressed gratitude to government hospitals and all participating and supporting entities. He highlighted the significance of the event and expressed hope that the collective efforts would yield positive results in providing essential support to affected children and their families.
