The Government Hospitals Addministration and Siemens Healthineers signed a cooperation agreement, regarding the accreditation of the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) as a reference laboratory for the MENA region.
The agreement came within the framework of the Arab Health Exhibition and Congress 2024.
Dr. Maryam Athbi Al Jalahma, CEO of the Government Hospitals, affirmed the importance of these agreements to promote Bahrain’s health sector at the regional level represented by SMC.
She noted that SMC’s achievement would contribute to enhancing cooperation with various hospitals and international institutes and strengthen Bahrain’s health care system.
Vivek Kanade, Head of Siemens Healthineers Middle East and Africa operations, praised SMC’s laboratory and its advanced medical technology.
Dr. Wael Almahmeed, CEO of Wael Pharmacy, the company that implemented the project to develop the central laboratory at SMC, says the partnership with government hospitals is an effort to provide high-quality diagnostic and health services by providing efficiency and speed in laboratory analyses.
SMC’s new central laboratory features integrated systems and advanced devices that provide the region’s highest productivity rate.
The laboratory can also collect more than 12,000 samples per hour and store more than 46,000 samples, an increase of 50% over the current situation. SMC and private hospital patients would be able to receive and analyse samples in record time through the new electronic system.
