Experts Insights: Cybersecurity Management Vital for Bahrain’s Institutional Sustainability

Cybersecurity experts underscored the vital need for both public and private institutions in Bahrain to implement comprehensive strategies for managing cybersecurity risks. These strategies encompass evaluating system vulnerabilities, identifying potential risks, and ensuring compliance with the latest global security standards. These measures are crucial for ensuring the long-term sustainability of these institutions.

These insights were shared during a seminar organized by NGN International, a leading Bahraini IT Systems Integrations and Managed Cyber Security Company, titled “Securing the Backbone: Critical Infrastructure Monitoring.” The seminar convened a diverse group of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), data security experts, and IT professionals. The event served as a platform for discussing challenges and best practices related to the maintenance and monitoring of critical infrastructure. Additionally, participants exchanged valuable experiences and ideas on effective methods for organizations to protect and manage their assets.

During the session, moderated by Mr. Ali Beshara, General Manager of NGN International, esteemed attendees including Mr. Rashid Hidayat, Vice President – Head of Information Security – Multinational Bank, Mrs. Fatema Fardan, Security Digital Lead at Bank ABC, and Dr. Mohamed Hammad, AVP – Information Technology at Al Salam Bank, delved into an in-depth exploration of industry best practices for monitoring critical infrastructure.

The panelists explored strategies to bolster protection and enhance institutional preparedness against cyberattacks. They delved into cutting-edge technologies and innovative tools for data monitoring, analysis, and threat detection. Real-life case studies and participants’ practical experiences in dealing with cyber threats, particularly in securing financial institutions’ infrastructure, were discussed, and the comprehensive approach to risk management, including legal compliance and data protection, was a focal point.

Mr. Yaqoob Al Awadhi, Founder and CEO of NGN, emphasized that the event was part of NGN Majlis to raise cybersecurity awareness among decision-makers and stakeholders. He noted that the seminar was a response to the escalating challenges in information security and cyber threats, which many organizations face, endangering their operations’ safety and stability.

Mr. Ali Beshara, General Manager of NGN, highlighted the commitment of Bahraini companies and institutions to robust security measures and advanced technology adoption to counter cyber threats. He stressed the significance of strengthening security barriers, improving intrusion detection mechanisms, and ensuring swift responses to threats, and also safeguarding critical infrastructure necessitates robust cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as international collaboration in exchanging information and expertise.

Mr. Beshara further pointed out that effective protection and monitoring should be integral to the operational strategy of any organization relying on critical infrastructure and strategic assets.
