Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Chairman of Derasat Board of Trustees announced that the seventh edition of the Dereasat annual forum will discuss practical steps to create an Arab conglomerate for studies and research focusing on sustainability and economic development.
This corresponds with the recommendation on this regard issued by the Arab Summit held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in May 2023.
The Derasat Chairman made the announcement at the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat), and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab, on organising the Derasat annual forum in its seventh edition.
The annual forum aims to promote dialogue among Arab think tank experts and researchers on sustainability and development topics and comprehensive strategies.
The MoC was signed by Dr. Shaikh Abdullah, and Ambassador Hossam Zaki, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League and Head of the Office of the Secretary-General.
The Derasat chairman said that the “Arab Research Centres for Sustainability and Development Complex” aims to foster innovation, intellectual cooperation, and experience exchange among research centers, to create realistic and integrated visions to invest in available opportunities and tackle existing challenges.
Ambassador Zaki emphasised the importance of discussing the topic of setting up an Arab conglomerate for studies and research focusing on sustainability and economic development in the Derasat Forum, stating that this initiative will serve as an interactive platform for Arab research centres.
