Deputy Prime Minister launches updated UoB application

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, launched the newly developed University of Bahrain (UoB) application, on the sidelines of his visit to the university.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain is keen to enable the national and local universities to be leaders in the field of information technology and digital transformation, which will lead to improving the higher education sector services, increase universities’ competitiveness potential and provide options for lifelong learning, knowledge and research. 

He affirmed that Bahrain attaches utmost interest to education, as it is the best means to achieve sustainable development, noting that continuing scientific and research development will create universities capable of leading innovation and creativity.  

While launching the UoB App, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah affirmed UoB’s commitment to training its employees to use modern technologies to accomplish academic goals and conduct scientific research.

He was briefed by Dr. Fouad Mohammed Al Ansari, President of UoB, about the most prominent advantages of the electronic application and the facilities it provides to all users, as part of the university’s electronic system.

Earlier this month, UoB President stated that the application provides students with an electronic communication environment to assist with academic issues, as well as an electronic platform where they can obtain information regarding their academic data, academic schedule, study plan, and percentage of course completion. The App also automatically and instantly track sthe student’s attendance at lectures.

Students will also be able to use their student cards electronically with QR codes, receive pre-alerts for lectures and important academic dates, as well as receive directions to lecture rooms and parking lots, he added.

Al Ansari noted that this application allows faculty members to view their academic schedule, student advisory, manage and record attendance, and send messages to students. This application can also be used by other members of the university, such as the Security and Safety Department, the Deanship of Student Affairs, and the Department of Media and University Relations.
