Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) hosted the “Connections Luxury Bahrain” event on October 20-23, 2024.
The event aimed to enhance tourism collaboration between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, in line with the authority’s strategy to increase the number of tourists from key markets, including the British market.
Sara Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of BTEA, emphasised the importance of collaboration between the two countries in promoting tourism.
She highlighted Bahrain’s diverse attractions, which range from a rich cultural heritage and authentic Arab hospitality to stunning beaches, positioning the Kingdom as a unique destination for British and European travellers.
The CEO said that the event is part of BTEA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships with the tourism sector in the United Kingdom, which is recognised as a primary market within the Kingdom’s Tourism Strategy 2022-2026.
This strategy aims to increase the number of visitors by delivering specialised tourist packages tailored to the interests of visitors from various targeted markets, including British and European tourists.
Through this event, BTEA seeks to enhance the flow of tourism from the United Kingdom by developing new tourism packages designed to meet the needs of families and individuals from Britain and Europe. The event also aims to strengthen cooperation between the Authority, travel agents and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) to explore innovative ways of promoting the advantages of Bahrain’s tourism.
Furthermore, it underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in the fields of tourism, entertainment and sports between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, ensuring Bahrain’s capacity to attract more tourists from this market due to its diverse tourist destinations.
The “Connections Luxury Bahrain” event, organised by BTEA for the second consecutive year, serves as a distinctive platform for fostering cooperation and increasing tourist numbers. This year’s edition saw significant participation from travel and tourism agents from the United Kingdom, featuring a series of bilateral meetings and introductory tours of several luxury hotels and resorts in the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with opportunities to experience pearl diving and visit the Bahrain International Circuit.
BTEA is dedicated to strengthening collaboration with UK travel agents and developing new attractions within the Kingdom. This initiative underscores its commitment to enhancing tourism relations with this vital market and increasing the number of tourists.
The authority is also actively engaged in improving tourism infrastructure and developing tourism projects in collaboration with the private sector and international partners, thereby bolstering Bahrain’s status as a global hub for tourism.
This event is part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to promote international tourism cooperation, which includes participation in global tourism exhibitions and events, as well as launching promotional campaigns that support the objectives of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s tourism strategy.
