As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the effectiveness and impact of its humanitarian operations, the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) conducted a specialised training workshop focused on volunteer integration and capacity building.
The two-day programme, held on April 20–21 at the Society’s headquarters, was organised in close collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the State of Kuwait.
The initiative aimed to enhance the capabilities of BRCS volunteers by equipping them with essential skills and practical knowledge to deliver humanitarian assistance with greater professionalism and effectiveness. The programme featured a series of interactive lectures and hands-on sessions covering a range of critical topics, including the principles of volunteerism, strategies for effective integration, and approaches to engaging with vulnerable populations in humanitarian contexts.
Participants received an in-depth orientation on the mission, objectives, and foundational values of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The sessions also addressed operational protocols and procedures followed by the Society in delivering aid, along with key concepts in emergency response and crisis management. The overall objective was to prepare volunteers to respond confidently and competently to a wide range of humanitarian scenarios.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Mubarak Al-Hadi, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, underscored the strategic importance of such initiatives in developing a robust and skilled volunteer network, and said, “This workshop represents a significant step forward in empowering our volunteers and reinforcing the Society’s humanitarian mission. Our partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross enriches our training programmes and helps align our practices with globally recognised standards.”
Mr. Al-Hadi further emphasised that the Society places a high priority on the structured development and active involvement of its volunteers across all committees and programmes. “We are committed to harnessing the full potential of our volunteers by integrating them effectively into our operations. This ensures not only their personal growth but also the delivery of impactful humanitarian services that adhere to the highest international benchmarks,” Mr. Al-Hadi added.
