The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) initiated a series of events to commemorate World First Aid Day, themed ‘World First Aid and Cardiac Resuscitation Day.’
This occasion serves to underscore the crucial role of first aid in preserving human lives. The focus is on heightening awareness about the significance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and delivering prompt assistance to individuals facing heart attacks or accidents. The events aim to educate the public on how to respond to emergencies, emphasizing the principles of first aid. Moreover, they promote the diverse training courses provided by the Society, highlighting their benefits in life-saving situations.
The activities commenced with a workshop conducted by the Society, emphasizing the critical role of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in saving lives and mitigating suffering. The session provided insights into various types of first aid, including interventions for wounds, bleeding, and fractures, as well as guidance on handling emergency situations in ambulances. The participants were encouraged, regardless of age, to acquire first aid skills to aid victims of cardiac arrest in their communities.
The event featured competitions and hands-on CPR exercises led by Bahrain Red Crescent paramedics. These professionals shared practical information on CPR techniques applicable in emergency cases where a patient’s breathing or pulse ceases. Utilizing models and training equipment, attendees engaged in interactive learning. Additionally, the event incorporated entertaining competitions and virtual games to engage and educate the participants.
At the conclusion of the event, the Health Awareness Committee of the Society offered complimentary medical consultations and conducted tests for blood sugar, blood pressure, and body mass index. This initiative reflects the Society’s dedication to providing accessible medical guidance and comprehensive health assessments to all. It is noteworthy that the celebration of this World Day, initiated by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in 2000, aims to enlighten communities about the vital role of first aid courses in individual lives. The day encourages widespread understanding of the principles and fundamentals of first aid for everyone and promotes familiarity with essential guidelines for providing urgent ambulance services prior to the arrival of professional medical assistance. Furthermore, it raises awareness about authorized entities that offer accredited training courses in first aid.
