BisB Sponsors “Coins Through Culture & History” Exhibition

Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB), the leading provider of Islamic digital banking services in the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced its sponsorship of the “Coins Through Culture & History” exhibition by the Bahraini owner Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hakim Al-Aradi. Opened on the 22nd of May, the exhibition is located at the Bahrain National Museum. It is organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiques and will continue until the 24th of June.

The coins featured in the exhibition are part of Mr. Mohammed Al-Aradi’s collection, who previously participated in the BisB Outstanding Achievements Award, qualifying for the final stage. He is the owner of the Arados Auction and is one of the region’s most prominent researchers specializing in the field of Islamic and Byzantine coinage. Moreover, he is a member of Numismatics International and the American Numismatic Association.

The exhibition draws attention to historic and rare coins that showcase the cultural and commercial aspects of Arab-Roman relations as well as the events that impacted the relations between the two civilizations before and after Islam. The exhibition includes dinars and dirhams, which were in circulation during the era of the Prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him, as well as currencies used for trade between Arabs and Romans on the Silk Road. The exhibition also featured a number of coins that showed evidence of coin debasement and tampering with the type of metal, weight, shape, and other rare pieces that simulate history and reflects the economic situation and monetary circulation at different times.

Throughout the month, the exhibition will be attended by leading officials, academics, prominent political figures from Bahrain and the international community, and members of the general public. A series of seminars and events will be organized, highlighting the cultural and commercial aspects of the Kingdom and its ancient history, reinforcing Bahrain’s status regional and international.
