Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB), the leading provider of Islamic digital banking services in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has signed an agreement with the Labor Fund (Tamkeen) to finance the education of doctors looking to pursue advanced academic studies and attain master’s degrees and fellowships in desired specializations. Tamkeen will be subsidizing 100% of the profit during the grace period and 50% during the repayment period upon verifying the academic program’s accreditation with the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).
The signing ceremony took place at Tamkeen’s headquarters with the attendance of Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive Officer of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), Ms. Fatema AlAlawi, Chief Retail Banking Officer of BisB, as well as a number of representatives from both entities.
Commenting on the occasion, Ms. Fatema AlAlawi, Chief Retail Banking Officer of BisB, said: “We are pleased to announce our partnership with Tamkeen as part of this pioneering initiative to develop national medical talent which will contribute to elevating the local healthcare sector as a whole. We are committed to supporting the medical workforce and empowering them through innovative financing solutions that aim to help them achieve their ambitions and progress in their academic and career journeys.”
This program comes as part of the doctors’ support initiatives launched earlier this year by Tamkeen, which includes employment support with wages supported at varying percentages (70%, 50%, or 30%) for a period of three years, as well as wage increment support wherein Tamkeen will support the wage increments by 100% for 12 months. In addition, private health institutions will be incentivized to recruit more national talent to raise Bahrainization rates among doctors and dentists, which will provide them with additional opportunities to increase grant amounts as part of Tamkeen’s Enterprise programs.
The Bank invites all those who are interested in benefitting from the financing to contact BisB in early October through its various communication channels, including its Call Center at 17515151, its Instagram page @Bahrainislamicbank, or by visiting the B Bank’s website https://www.bisb.com.
