BisB launches “We Write in Arabic” initiative

Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) has launched the “We Write in Arabic” initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Education, the Bahrain Writers Association, and Visa, aiming to promote the Arabic language and encourage youth engagement.

The initiative invites young Bahrainis, aged 13 to 18, to participate in a creative writing competition by submitting short stories envisioning the future of Bahrain, with a focus on innovation and digital transformation.

Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Information, praised the initiative as a valuable contribution to reinforcing the Arabic language and national identity, highlighting its inclusion in the Arab Media Capital events.

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, commended the collaboration with BisB on this initiative, which aims to foster appreciation for the Arabic language and gives young people a platform to showcase their literary talents.

Fatema Al Alawi, Acting CEO of BisB, highlighted the initiative’s importance in nurturing young talent and fostering a deeper appreciation for Arabic, adding that the bank plans to make this an annual event to inspire future generations.

Dr. Rashid Najem, President of the Bahrain Writers Association, said that the initiative coincides with the events of ‘Manama as the Arab Media Capital.’

He added that it encourages Bahraini youth, aged 13-18, to take part in a creative writing competition, inviting them to share their vision for Bahrain’s technological future and smart solutions through short stories

The campaign will run until the end of the year, with registration opening in mid-October.

Young participants are invited to submit their entries, which will then be reviewed by a judging panel. Following this, the public will have the chance to vote electronically for their favourite stories.

The initiative will culminate in a special event where the winners will be announced, followed by the publication of a book featuring the top 10 stories and an awards ceremony.

The final phase of the initiative will coincide with World Arabic Language Day, showcasing the participants’ creative works.

Participants will be tasked with writing a story in Arabic, focusing on creativity and originality, while demonstrating strong language skills and thoughtful use of vocabulary
