BIBFS Calls on Bahraini Traders to Seize Opportunities at Expo Indonesia

The Bahrain Indonesia Business and Friendship Society (BIBFS), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Kingdom of Bahrain, hosted a special event to introduce Bahraini companies and the business community to the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia.

The expo, scheduled to take place from October 9 to 12 at the International Convention Exhibition BSD in Jakarta, aims to showcase investment opportunities across various sectors.

Dr. Hana Kanoo, Chairman of BIBFS, urged Bahraini companies to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the exhibition, and emphasized the Society’s commitment to providing full support and guidance to those interested in attending, in line with its goal of fostering stronger trade and economic partnerships between Bahrain and Indonesia.

“Indonesia, with its dynamic economy, offers significant potential for Bahraini companies. Bahrain’s strategic location, providing valuable access to the GCC and MENA regions, further enhances the prospects for stronger trade and investment ties between our two countries,” said Dr. Hana Kanoo.

During the event, H.E. Ardi Hermawan, Indonesian Ambassador to Bahrain, highlighted Bahrain as a key market for the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, noting its vast potential, and emphasized that there are only two Chamber committees in the MENA region, in Dubai and Bahrain, underscoring Bahrain’s importance to Indonesia’s economic outreach.

H.E. Hermawan also noted that Bahraini trade delegations have participated in Expo Indonesia for over a decade. Last year alone, 11 Bahraini businessmen attended the event, resulting in purchase agreements worth nearly USD 5 million for Indonesian, and encouraged more Bahraini companies to participate in this year’s edition of the expo.

Mr. Widy Haryono, Director of the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center in Dubai and keynote speaker at the event, provided an in-depth overview of the upcoming 39th Indonesian Trade Expo.

Mr. Haryono emphasized that the event serves as a prime opportunity to strengthen trade relations between Bahrain and Indonesia, while also exploring investment opportunities in both countries, and highlighted the positive trade data from the previous year, showing a notable increase in Indonesian exports to Bahrain.

Concluding the event, H.E. Ambassador Ardi Hermawan awarded certificates of appreciation to several Bahraini companies across various categories. Additionally, Bahrain was honored with this year’s prestigious “Prima Duta” award, marking the second consecutive year to receive this distinction. Bahrain remains the only country from the MENA region to be recognized with this award.
