His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today deputised Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, to attend the ceremony organised by the Bahrain Marina Development Company this evening at the Bahrain National Theatre, to lay the foundation stone for the “Bahrain Marina” project.
Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla affirmed that HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s patronage of this ceremony reflects the attention attached by the kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and HRH’s follow-up, to supporting strategic and development projects aimed at diversifying the base of the national economy, and strengthening the real estate development sector’s contributions to Bahrain’s non-oil gross domestic product (GDP).
The deputy premier pointed out that the eastern coast region will witness a qualitative leap upon the completion of the “Bahrain Marina” project, and other existing projects adjacent to this vital coast located in the middle of the banks of the Arabian Gulf, to collectively form an architectural icon and an urban waterfront that will add new distinctive features to the capital, Manama.
Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla also highlighted the government’s keenness to expand the scope of its partnerships with private sector, as it is the main driver of the development process, in order to ensure the sustainability and continuous development of infrastructure, and to create promising opportunities for the citizens in work and investment by offering more pioneering and innovative initiatives that would revitalise the tourism sector, and promote the Kingdom’s status as a global centre and destination for tourism, commensurate with goals of the Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
The deputy prime minister and the attendees watched a film about the components of the multi-purpose 256,000-square-metre “Bahrain Marina” development project, whose investment value is estimated at BD 200 million. The project includes multiple options for permanent and short-term residence with about 580 units and hotel rooms through freehold residential units, a hotel and a beach resort, in addition to service facilities such as shops, restaurants, a sea promenade, as well as parking lots for cars and boats of various sizes.
The deputy premier paid tribute to the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Marina Development Company, as well as to the company’s executive management and affiliates, for the efforts they had made in preparing the project’s master plan, and its official inauguration, wishing them every success.
Khalid Mohammed Najibi, Bahrain Marina Development Company’s Board of Directors Chairman, extended sincere gratitude to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for patronising the foundation stone laying ceremony of the “Bahrain Marina” project.
Addressing the ceremony, Najibi commended the ongoing efforts to enhance the economic atmosphere in the kingdom, under HM the King’s leadership, and the HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s follow-up, to ensure that Bahrain always remains attractive with robust and flexible economic elements, expressing thanks and appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister for attending the ceremony.
He affirmed that the “Bahrain Marina” project, once completed, will provide a unique lifestyle for its residents and visitors, and become a major destination in the region.
He indicated that the project’s foundation stone laying ceremony represents a milestone in national development plans, as it highlights the Kingdom’s ability to attract value-added investment projects aiming to strengthen its position as a pioneering country with a distinguished development experience.
