Bahrain’s e-passport won “Best New Passport” award for the year 2024 in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region during the High Security Printing (HSP) awards ceremony held in Bulgaria from March 4-7.
Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA) at the Ministry of Interior, expressed his pride in this high-level recognition and international honour, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman praised the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in implementing initiatives to develop the NPRA.
He emphasised the continued support of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, who significantly contributed to this global achievement.
This win adds to Bahrain’s record of achievements and demonstrates the significance of Bahrain’s electronic passport from its design and security features as well as its use of the most advanced technologies in the field of identity documentation, he said.
