Bahrain and Israel Foreign Affairs Ministers signs two MoU

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Eli Cohen, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of culture, which aims to develop cultural cooperation between the two countries on the basis of equity, reciprocity and mutual benefit.

The two ministers also signed two joint declarations. The first relates to the establishment of an internship programme that aims to promote cooperation and mutual benefit through the establishment of the “Bahrain-Israel Internship Programme” in the fields of software, engineering, science and other related fields. Meanwhile, the second relates to joint cooperation in the field of youth, which aims to promote activities for youth and communication between the two peoples.

Dr. Al-Zayani also signed with the Deputy Director of the Securities Authority of the State of Israel, Ron Klein, a memorandum of understanding on banking and financial cooperation between the two countries, which aims to provide a framework for cooperation between the two authorities on issues related to capital markets, financial technology and innovation.

The two sides expressed hope that the move would be a new impetus to promote mutual cooperation between the two countries and develop bilateral relations to serve mutual interests.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular and Administrative Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Ali Bahzad, the Director General for Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Youssef Abdulkarim Bucheeri, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the State of Israel, Ambassador Khalid Yousef Al-Jalahma, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the State of Israel, Ambassador Eitan Na’eh, in addition to the accompanying delegation of the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs.
