The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) won the “Excellence in Medical Education” presented to higher education institutions at the 29th World Education Summit, recently held in Delhi, India. The summit brought together educational leaders and policy makers from around the world, including the US, UK, Middle East and Asia, to discuss the pivotal role of innovation in shaping the future of education.

Mr Arpan Stephen, E-Learning Specialist at AGU, was a keynote speaker at the event, showcasing the university’s innovations in e-curricula at the College of Medicine, having a significant impact on the development of the educational process. Furthermore, this achievement builds on the university’s previous win of the “Creativity in Education” award at the Eighth World Education Summit hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On the occasion, Mr Stephen highlighted that AGU’s participation in this annual summit aimed to explore the future of education and pursue knowledge and enlightenment in one of the largest gatherings of creative teachers, thought leaders, education pioneers, and educational technology experts.

The summit participants discussed how to strike a balance between technological advancements and traditional education methods, focusing on topics such as data privacy, the limitations of relying on technology, and preserving human touch in education.

Moreover, Mr Stephen stressed that AGU has taken significant strides in innovation-based education and electronic medical simulation and innovation-based education. The university won a bronze medal at the Middle East level at an international conference for higher education, “Reimagine Education Awards”, co-organised by QS World University Rankings and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, AGU won a bronze medal for quality in the MENA region awarded by SAP; the global leader in business programming, for utilising its programme for shifting administrative transactions to electronic applications.
