A practical training course organised by the Anatomy Department at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS) at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) for medical students has been recently concluded, under faculty supervision. The aim of the course was to improve students’ skills in anatomy and provide those interested in surgical or anatomical specialties with a broader and more comprehensive knowledge and understanding of this medical specialty.
The course, entitled “Thoracic Region Dissection”, was inaugurated by Prof. Abdelhalim Deifalla, Dean of the CMMS, and it continued for four weeks, with the participation of 10 students from different academic years. The second training course, entitled “Dissection of the Head and Neck Region”, also continues for four weeks, and will conclude on March 10.
On the occasion, Dr Wael Amin Nasreldin, Chairman of the Anatomy Department, stated that the department is committed to organising specialised courses in anatomy to improve the scientific and practical skills of students of medicine and medical sciences.
He explained that these training workshops and courses provide a broader and deeper understanding of how different body systems work through various methods and mechanisms, adding that the human body is a complex system that performs various necessary functions for safe movement, thinking, feeling and other sensory functions.
For their part, Anatomy Specialists Dr Mohammed Ali Yunus Khan and Dr Nagi Bakhit participated in the training under the supervision of members of the department’s faculty. Dr Yasin Tayem, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, handed out certificates to the participants who passed the training course.
Dr Nasreldin added that anatomy is considered an essential element in the medical curriculum of the CMMS, as it complements the basic medical sciences and prepares future doctors with advanced qualifications and experience in anatomical sciences.
