Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, inaugurated the development project of Al Hunainiyah water spring in Block 903.
His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Southern Governor, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry Undersecretary, were present.
Al Mubarak affirmed the ministry’s keenness to preserve archaeological springs and develop them to reflect the Kingdom’s history.
He noted that Al Hunainiyah water spring is one of the oldest in Bahrain, therefore the ministry was keen to develop it and turn it to a services and leisure facility that reflects its social and historical significance to its visitors.
Al Mubarak said that the Ministry has a plan to develop historical water springs in all governorates to preserve them as archaeological landmarks that depict an era in which the people of Bahrain lived, as they relied on artesian springs as a source of water in their daily lives.
