The Arabian Gulf University (AGU), in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for West Asia, is hosting a three-day training workshop on “Integrated Environmental Assessment and State of the Environment Reports” from June 24 to 26, 2024. This workshop aims to provide trainers from Arab countries in the West Asia region with the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct integrated environmental assessments and prepare state of the environment reports effectively.
The workshop, presented by experts from AGU and the UNEP, will cover the basic concepts, methodologies and practical applications of integrated environmental assessment reports and state of the environment reports. It will also enhance participants’ understanding of the principles and methodologies of integrated environmental assessment, improve their writing skills, and master data analysis methodologies to enhance the quality and impact of their reports.
Additionally, the workshop will also clarify the importance of preparing state of the environment reports and provide participants with hands-on training on integrated environmental assessment and report preparation methodologies. The training will rely on interactive presentations, group discussions, case studies, and practical exercises and training sessions.
On this occasion, Prof. Waleed Zubari, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) at AGU, who is coordinating the workshop, revealed that 24 specialists from the field of environment will participate in the training, including trainers, teachers and policymakers involved in environmental assessments and reporting in the West Asia region, adding that they will act as coaches in their countries in the future.
Prof. Zubari also noted that the workshop aims to produce high-level results in terms of understanding international environmental assessment reports and state of the environment reports, integrated environmental assessment procedures, producing state of the environment reports, facilitating knowledge transfer and retention, and establishing a network of trained professionals for continuous cooperation.
It’s worth noting that this workshop is a response to the urgent need for comprehensive environmental assessments and state of the environment reports in the West Asia region.
