The two-day preparation and guidance activities for incoming students at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS) at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) have successfully concluded. The students have been accepted into the first year and preparatory year for the academic year 2023-2024.
During a meeting with the students, His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of AGU, emphasised the University’s important and distinguished position. He urged the students to demonstrate dedication, diligence, and persistence in their academic journey, as they are relied upon as the upcoming generation by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to make significant contributions to the advancement of the medical and healthcare sector in the region.
Furthermore, HE Dr Al Fuhaid also encouraged the incoming students to focus on developing their skills, capabilities, and knowledge rather than solely concentrating on obtaining an academic degree. He emphasised the importance of utilising the University’s resources and investing time in research and academic excellence to establish a strong foundation for their future medical careers. He also assured the students of an open-door policy for questions and feedback, promising that the University would spare no effort in providing an ideal educational environment that ensures their academic distinction.
On his part, Dr Abdulrahman Yousif Ismael, AGU Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Dean of Student Affairs, highlighted that the University promotes students through various means to learn and excel. He underscored the University’s provision of a nurturing environment for students’ talents of all kinds. He further stressed that the University supports students in participating in high-quality external activities such as scientific workshops, conferences, and competitions, representing the university in various local, Arab, and international forums.
The induction programme included a meeting between the incoming students and the Dean of the CMMS, as well as the administrative units and departments of the University.
Prof. Abdel Halim Deifalla, Dean of the CMMS, acquainted the incoming students with the College’s academic system, evaluation criteria, and requirements for transitioning to the second medical year.
Moreover, Prof. Dr Waheeb Isa Alnaser, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Scientific Research at AGU, briefed the students about the accreditation of the University as a recognised health university by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
He added that this accreditation is a result of the University’s provision of an educational environment and organisational culture that promotes the health, well-being, and sustainability of its educational community.
